Spent the morning in the ER. Called an ambulance at 1:30 am for terrible stomach pain and vomiting (I actually thought I might be having a heart attack). and then tests, tests, tests. I am home now and headed to bed as soon as my daughter comes with my prescription. Not sure when I will get this (tomorrow's gift) posted on Facebook, but here it is now. ENJOY!

Hope you are someplace with warm weather. It is only 16 degrees this morning. Brrrr. Our daughter and son are coming up today to bring us some Posole (a spicy mexican dish made with hominy and slow cooked pork and served at Christmas and New Year's). Though I grew up in NYC. I lived for 30+ years in New Mexico and I learned to love it. Hubby can't eat spicy anymore so he didn't fix his traditional huge pot so our daughter took pity and is bringing me some :-)

Christmas Gift - December 21, 2022
Happy Birthday to me! Happy Birthday to me! Yup, today's the day I dread each year. Another year older. Slowly sliding down the other side of life. LOL, I am 76 (OMG, did I say that out loud?)
I put together a couple of things I still had in my "ready to give" folder, but I am going to have to get busy. I spent the day finishing up the Christmas newsletter and emailing out cards. So many people change their address without notifying anyone. Grrrr. I spent almost as much time tracking down a current email address than I did sending out the cards. Each year, instead of mailing out Christmas Cards (except for the children and grandkids), we make a donation to the local homeless shelter so others can enjoy the holidays too.

Christmas Gift - December 19, 2022
Boy, today was a bust. Good thing I got my cards finished and in the mail. I feel lousy. I normally don't sleep during the day, but I didn't get up until 10, and then slept for 3-1/2 hours this afternoon. I sure hope tomorrow is better.
Do you watch movies? We are always looking for something good to watch. We like action, mystery, suspense and just about anything that is good. Last night we watched "Eye of the Needle", an old movie with Donald Sutherland. We had seen it before and I read the book by Ken Follett (one of the best, IMHO) and enjoyed it again. If you have seen something good, please let me know. We have Netfix and Prime and some of the other streaming services.

Ahhh, a sign of relief. The cards are in the mail! Yay! I still have to send out my Christmas Card emails but I still have a few days. I normally do a Christmas newsletter, but just started on that. It is hard when you are hermits and don't go out or do much anymore. I've been doing it for years now and it is so fun to go back and read the diary of years gone by. We just got back from grocery/prescriptions pick up so I can relax and go watch a good movie.

It's a better day. We went and got haircuts and I am printing my cards. Usually I send them off to Shutterfly or someplace to get them printed, but I am so far behind, they wouldn't get here in time to send them out. So, I had some glossy paper and they are coming out pretty well. Thankfully, I had some ink to replace the cartridge so I will be able to get them all printed.

Christmas Gift - December 15, 2022
Goodness, now I know why people start Christmas preparations around Halloween. LOL. We don't put up a tree or decorate much because we are old and it is way too much work. Our daughter and SIL came over this past weekend and brought up from the basement the large wreath for outside and the two lighted trees for either side of the front door. They also got our Nativity set, ceramic tree and table centerpiece. All I have to do is our cards. I make my own, usually with a photo, and send most out via email (the money we save on printing and postage is sent to the local homeless shelter). But I usually make up 15 or so different card designs to show hubby and then we decide which one to use. I have been working on this for five days now. I was also four days ahead on designing, bundling and uploading your Christmas gifts, but that has fallen by the wayside. LOL. Anyway, here is your gift for today. ENJOY!

Christmas Gift - December 13, 2022
Another rainy, dreary day. Our daughter and SIL came over yesterday with our great-grandson Max (the cutest little guy!) and retrieved some Christmas decorations from the basement. We don't do a big Christmas tree anymore. They hung the huge Christmas wreath on the front of the house, two small trees on either side of the front door, and inside, our ceramic tree, table centerpiece and of course, our beautiful wood carved Nativity scene. Now the house looks Christmas-y!
I am listening to Christmas music on my Echo Show. I read on FB today something that said "call someone you've been meaning to call today ...", so that is exactly what I did. Funny how talking to an old friend and catching up can make you feel so good. And, I am working on my Christmas cards. I always do my own. Every year I email most of my cards and donate the money I would have spent on them to the homeless shelter in town. But, I do mail cards to the family and close friends.

Another dreary, rainy morning and I have to admit, it is getting me down. Sometimes I just don't want to get out of bed. I just don't see the point. Good morning everyone! At least it is morning when I am writing this. I try to get everything ready for the next day's post as soon as I think of it so I don't forget. I've been posting kind of early the day before and then putting it on Facebook in the evening before, right after dinner while hubby watches the news. I've been sitting here all day -- in between dusting - listening to Christmas Music. I love Pentatonix especially. I've been singing along to different versions of Hallelujah, and Mary, Did You Know, and many other Christmas classics. It makes me happy :-)

Christmas Gift - December 3, 2022
Well, ho-ho-ho. I am just not in the Christmas spirit. We don't put up a tree anymore but our SonInLaw gets our big wreath from the basement to hang out on the front of the house. We also have two small trees he puts for us on either side of the front door. And a small ceramic tree my SIL made for us decades ago. And, of course, our nativity scene, BUT, none of that is up yet. I've spent the past two days going up and down into the basement going thru files to find a legal document I desperately need by Monday. My back is killing me!!

How funny. I put together a frame for today and later that day, I went to look at last year's December goodies and saw the exact same frame I created last year! Well, Thanksgiving is over and we are headed to Christmas. It was a busy week. All our children were in town and we had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with great food and so many memories. The kids talked about when they were little and funny things they did and wonderful memories they had.

I can't believe it is almost Thanksgiving. The year has gone by so fast. Though we have many problems, we have so much to be thankful for -- especially children who love us and do so much for us. Also, neighbors who help without being asked. We are thankful we still have the mental capacity to enjoy our computers - Facebook, the internet, digital scrapbooking, etc. We have a nice home, live in a great neighborhood, and have everything we need to live an enjoyable life. God is good.

Tuesday Treat - November 8, 2022
Hello again! Halloween is over. Did you get many kiddos? We live in such dangerous times anymore, it is not safe for the children to even eat the goodies they get without their parents sorting through them for poison, sharp objects or drugs. What is happening to this world! I can remember running home after the night was over to dump out all the treats and trading candies with my siblings. It was dark when we went around knocking on doors but we didn't have to worry about real boogy-men waiting to grab us or neighbors trying to kill us with their treats. So sad.
Anyway, we are on to fall designs and Thanksgiving. Then, Christmas! I am still debating whether I want to commit to my daily Christmas gifts for the month of December. Lots of work, but I do enjoy making the treats. We will see.

We got our senior flu shot and the third covid booster, and boy have we been sick! Not sure which shot caused it, or maybe the combination of the two at the same time, but I've been sleeping around the clock except to get up to go to the bathroom and to take my medications. Ugh.
Well, it's that time of the year again! Halloween is around the corner, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas! Even though it is just the great-grandkids doing the trick-or-treat thing, I enjoy making Halloween goodies. I hope you can use them. ENJOY

Tuesday Treat - October 4, 2022
Hurricane Ian: When you sit and watch the damage done by hurricanes or tornadoes or other disasters throughout the world on TV, you sit and think “so sad”, but when those affected are family and friends, it is a whole different matter. Our old neighborhood in Florida has been decimated; Our Pastor’s home demolished; the childcare center and school fared pretty well, but the Church, the structure I worried about the least, has so much structural damage. Thank God our daughter, who lives north of Tampa, and our grandson, who lives north of Orlando, were spared. We are so fortunate that we sold our winter home in Florida. I cannot imagine what we would do, I wouldn’t know where to begin. The snowbirds who live in our old neighborhood are wanting to know how much damage was done to their home. The permanent residents just cannot deal with someone else’s property when they have so much to handle with their own. And, now, they are having to deal with looters. If you are a pray-er, please pray for all those affected. You just have no idea until it touches “home”.

Fall is definitely here! The temps have been cold, especially at night. I miss Florida! (except when there are hurricanes) but I do enjoy sleeping when it is cooler. Today is my brother's birthday. There were 5 of us - three boys and two girls. Only my sister and I are left. Fred was the oldest. He was 11 years older than me. He used to joke that he thought Mom was giving him a basketball for Christmas but instead he got me! I was little when he joined the Navy. He lied about his age to get in. It was so exciting whenever he would come home on leave. He always brought something from some foreign, exotic land. When he got out, he became a policeman in Washington DC. Oh, the stories he would tell. He was a good man, a good husband, a good father and a great brother. I miss him. Happy Birthday Fred!

Fall is coming, I can tell. My bones really hurt with the weather changes. We've had the air conditioner on, but now the temps are down in the 50s. The forecast for later this week are in the mid 80s, so no sense in turning on the heat. I have a space heater in my office, so that is what I am using for now. Today I have a quickpage and a few matching ribbons. Soon I will revert to the darker autumn colors. I prefer the darker to the pastels for some reason. Anyway, here you go. ENJOY!

Time flies. Not sure where it is going, but the days go by and then weeks, months and years. We welcomed a new great-grandbaby into the family. Number 14 for us. His mom doesn't allow photos online (except in our private folder), so no picture for you, but he was a whopping 11 pounds 4 ounces!!
School has started. Our oldest great-grandchild is a Senior this year and will be off to college before we know it. Time flies.

Today, August 15, would have been my brother's 73rd birthday. He died at the young age of 39. I had two older brothers - 9 and 11 years older than me, but Steve (his friends called him Stubby although he was over 6 ft tall) was the closest in age. He was a brat, as younger brothers often are, but I love him so much and I miss him every day. Happy Birthday in heaven Steve, hope they have cold beer :-)
