Tuesday Treat - February 6, 2024

 Here we are, already in February!  In one week, my hubby will turn 99.  Yes, you read that right -- 99!!  Although he has slowed down a bit (no more than me!), he is still amazing.  He helps around the house - emptying the dishwasher, putting out the garbage, etc.  We play computer games together.  He is an amazing man.

Tuesday Treat - August 1, 2023

 I cannot believe that July is over and school will be starting soon.  When I was growing up, school did not start until after Labor Day.  Summer is coming to an end and before you know it, the leaves will be falling and then snow!

Tuesday Treat - February 21, 2023

 Happy Tuesday everyone!  Today is a good day because my hubby is recuperating from an "episode" and is doing much better.  My husband has dysphasia, a swallowing disorder.  On his birthday he quit eating because he was unable to swallow without choking.  He collapsed on Monday when his legs would no longer hold him up.  We made an appointment with his GI doctor and they scheduled an emergency procedure to stretch his throat again.  He lost 5 pounds in 5 days! He has had the procedure done multiple times, but the alternative is a feeding tube, which he really does not want to do.  Anyway, long story short, he is back to eating and has gained back a couple of pounds.  He is 98, and I know he can't live forever, but I want him around as long as I can have him!

Tuesday Treat - January 30, 2022

 Oh my gosh, the first month of the year just about over!  We finally got a snow storm.  We got about 5 inches (or more) last week.  Most of it has melted but it is snowing again today.  Small flakes but steady.  And it is cold enough (25 degrees) that it is sticking to everything.  I love watching the snow from my office window, but I don't have to go out in the cold and drive on the icy roads.  I am posting this on my blog early (Monday morning) so that I don't forget - something I tend to do a lot now that I am old ... LOL - but only here on my blog.  I will post to Facebook after supper tonight (if I remember).  Anyway, here is your treat for today.  ENJOY!

Christmas Gift - December 21, 2022

 Happy Birthday to me!  Happy Birthday to me!  Yup, today's the day I dread each year.  Another year older.  Slowly sliding down the other side of life.  LOL,  I am 76 (OMG, did I say that out loud?)  

I put together a couple of things I still had in my "ready to give" folder, but I am going to have to get busy.  I spent the day finishing up the Christmas newsletter and emailing out cards.  So many people change their address without notifying anyone.  Grrrr.  I spent almost as much time tracking down a current email address than I did sending out the cards.  Each year, instead of mailing out Christmas Cards (except for the children and grandkids), we make a donation to the local homeless shelter so others can enjoy the holidays too.

Christmas Gift - December 21, 2021

Well, here it is... the big 75 ... three quarters of a century!!  Today is my birthday.  It's very depressing to be this old, but except for my grandma, no one in my family lived past 72, so I am blessed.  Not doing anything special because of Covid, but hubby is making my favorite Christmas dish - Posole (a spicy pork and hominy mexican dish).  It is a favorite from when we lived in New Mexico and it has become a Christmas tradition.  I don't know why we don't make it other times during the year since we love it.  For Christmas, our daughter is having a family gathering, but no one is vaccinated, so we are staying away.  She will bring us dinner, so we don't have to cook.  Our daughter-in-law and two granddaughters in Missouri have Covid.  Two have been vaccinated, so hopefully it will be a mild case.

Tuesday Treat - February 23rd

I think the snow might be over for a while.  It is really deep!  Our driveway had three feet of snow the other day and we couldn't find anyone to plow it out as our regular guy was super busy.  We asked the neighbors for recommendations and found one guy who said he would be over that afternoon.  Later that morning our regular guy called us from the street to say he came to plow but someone had snow-blowed our driveway already!  We have no idea who did it and no one will fess up so we can thank them.  We've had to have it plowed two more times since then.  The guys who plow do not do sidewalks (they don't get out of the truck) and we don't even know where our sidewalk is, there is so much snow.  LOL.  But, we are nothing like Texas.  We have been praying for those poor people!

Tuesday Treat - March 24th

Okay, is everyone going stir crazy yet?  My hubby is going nuts.  I don't get around easily so I am used to staying at home, but he is not.  And, I have to admit, he is getting grumpy.  We have a wonderful neighbor who has been getting our groceries for us and Walmart pickup/delivery/curbside (for prescriptions) has been wonderful if you can get a time slot.  But I had a few minutes to whip something up for you as hubby is napping in front of the TV ...
