Sorry about yesterday. Both hubby and I have been feeling tough all week. He hardly slept at all Wednesday/Thursday night, so I didn't sleep either. He finally got up at 8am and I fell asleep. He came back to bed at 9:30 am and we slept until 1pm. I am starting to feel a little better now but I am not 100 percent. Hopefully we are through the worst of it.

I am working on my Christmas newsletter. It started years ago when I received the first one from my new SIL, Marty. They were stationed overseas and when I received it, I thought "what a wonderful idea". I was discussing this with our Pastor recently and he said that back then people only communicated with their distant relatives and friends a couple of times a year and it was a great way to catch up with what everyone was doing. Now, we have Facebook and texts and so many other ways to communicate that the newsletters have lost their purpose. One thing I found though, is that these newsletters are like a diary for us. What year did we go on that cruise? Go check the newsletters. When did so and so get married. Go check the newsletters. So, though we don't really have much new to tell our family and friends, it is a recap of the year for us. Do you do a Christmas newsletter?

I am exhausted. Too much this past week. I still haven't finished my Christmas Cards though I only send out a few actual cards to family and close friends. We used to send hundreds - business and personal. Years ago we quit sending actual cards and instead make a donation to our local homeless shelter. We send cards out via e-mail instead. Because, let's face it, who actually reads the cards? Most that we get are cards with just a signature (sometimes printed). No note or anything personal. It's nice to know that the person is thinking of you, but such a waste of money. Ah, but that's just me. Do you send out Christmas cards?

HAPPY HALLOWEEN all! Not sure about where you live, but here in Ohio, trick or treat is not on Halloween. We had ours last Thursday, October 24th, in our area. I could understand if they moved it to a weekend so the kids don't have to go to school the next day, but Thursday? Someone said maybe so it doesn't interfere with sports or other school activities. I never did understand it. Do you celebrate Halloween where you live? Do the kids trick or treat on a different day?

Good afternoon peeps. Hope you all had a great weekend. I am posting this early (Monday morning) as I have lots to do today and don't want to forget to post it. The weather is turning cold here in Ohio and we have a freeze warning for the next couple of days. We had several dreary, rainy days but today is sunny so that is a plus! My arthritis is really bad on the cold, damp days. I had some time this weekend so got a little ahead of the game so I don't have to rush to get something out for Tuesday. Good morning everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend. It rained mostly all weekend but the grass and plants are happy! It is another dreary day today but a good day for a nap. LOL.
Do any of you play computer games? I love to play Angry Birds and Gummy Drop. I play lots of computer games, and have for years enjoyed them, but these two are my current favorites. I play the Angry Birds Friends tournaments against my hubby, and play Gummy Drop on my iPad. I've been playing Gummy Drop for almost two years at least every night before I go to sleep. It is a fun, very challenging game. Just a kid at heart, I guess.

OCTOBER! Oh my gosh, is it possible the year is coming to an end so quickly? Time really does fly, especially as we get older. I have some brads for you today along with several papers. I have been feeling pretty good. Not great, but better. Today we went out and got our senior flu shots and the RSV vaccination. Our pharmacy did not have the new Covid boosters yet, so we will get that as soon as they come in. My sister was exposed to Covid a few days ago, so we are praying she does not get sick. I've been reading that the number of covid cases are almost as bad as they were in 2020. We have been fortunate so far!

As I sit here writing this, I am listening to replays of the attacks on 9/11 so many years ago. I grew up in New York City. I was living in Albuquerque NM at the time of the attacks. I was getting ready to go to work. Hubby was in the shower and I was doing my hair with the morning news on. I remember watching the news in horror as the second plane hit the towers. My sister worked nearby. I tried to reach her but could not get through. This could not be happening!!
We had a dear friend who was a young girl in Germany during WWII. I remember her telling me we were lucky we did not have war here in our country, on our land, killing our friends and neighbors. Well, here we were.
I finally reached my sister (thank God for the internet) and she was safe. But the horror! There is so much evil in the world.
But, there is good too. And we don't hear about that often enough.
Enough. This is depressing.
Today I am in a lot of pain. I think I did too much over the weekend. I slept like a rock last night -- first time in ages I slept the whole night -- and got up at 10am. I am still in my robe because I plan to go back to bed. Maybe spend the day in bed. Who knows. It's one of those days.

Today, Tuesday, is our son's 57th birthday. Wow, does that make me feel old!!
Lots of friends/family have got whatever this bug is that's going around. I am feeling better, but whatever it was is messing with my sleep. I do have sleep problems occasionally but it's been three nights now with hardly any sleep. I took two "sleeping pills" (over the counter allergy meds like in Tylenol PM but without the Tylenol) last night and slept off and on until 9:30 - got up, took a pain pill and my morning pills - and went back to sleep until noon. I would have kept on sleeping but my internal clock said "John (our son) will be here soon", so I got up, took a shower and got dressed.
Thankfully I had your goodies all ready to go, so here you are. ENJOY!

I cannot believe that July is over and school will be starting soon. When I was growing up, school did not start until after Labor Day. Summer is coming to an end and before you know it, the leaves will be falling and then snow!
